Although she had seen images of Italy during the day, there was something about the night that always captivated her. It might have been because she was never able to walk in the sunlight and had grown up in the shadows that humans feared. The city at night was her playground and she enjoyed every moment of it. At times Anastasia did require time alone, away from her business and social lives. Along with distance from her familiars and donors. Once a week she would venture out on her own, her donors staying at home while her familiars traded shifts and rested for the next errand that Anastasia would send them on when she wasn’t able to go or didn’t feel like doing it herself.
The sun had set hours ago, leaving the sky black. When she looked up she could see a few stars, shining brightly like diamonds against velvet. For one night she wished the lights of the city would go completely dark to allow her to fully see the stars of the night sky. She had seen it once before. She was out in the country at one point, no lights. Just her in a meadow with the stars. No moon. The moon stole the stars shine, making them dull and invisible, even to her keen sights. Anastasia loved the glittering sky above her.
Yet, she wasn’t looking at the stars now. When her dark gaze came down from the sky they landed on the Trevi fountain. The water was flowing as always, the statue grand in the dark as the lights cast shadows across its features. At night the fountain was deserted. During the day however it was packed with tourists. A sight she had never seen but had heard of by ear and images she had seen. There were perks to being a creature of the night. Being able to go places that were normally packed all by her lonesome self. It was a nice change of scenery from seeing everyone to practically no one.
Taking a seat on the edge of the fountain she let a sigh of content. For a moment her eyes shut, listening to the sounds around her. She could hear the music of local clubs nearby, chatter from brave humans who dared to walk at night, and the water of the fountain behind her. Carefully Anastasia focused to shut out the chatter and music, focusing only on the sound of water behind her. Once she had done so her eyes opened to again gaze up at the visible stars.
Reaching into her small bag she removed a coin. Gently she turned it over, examining it while contemplating what she wanted her wish to be. She wasn’t sure if wishes came true for vampires, and she wasn’t the best one around either. Although, it didn’t tarnish her hopes of it coming true. Closing her eyes she thought about her wish before tossing the coin over her shoulder and hearing it splash into the water behind her. |

I'LL GO A LITTLE CRAZY BECAUSE I'M LOSING MY MIND Friendship. Typically defined as a friendly relation or intimacy. That is, if you live in a normal world. In the world of Ellery Labelle, a friend was simply a piece in the game she liked to call life. Out of all the games that were created within her long lifetime, only one game stuck out where she could say a 'friend' of hers fit in. The game was chess, and the girl Anastasia Fairbanks. There were many people who considered her a friend, though if she had to choose one person, she would say Anastasia was the king to her chess game. She was the most important, had the best spot and most importantly, was the girl who came last on the list of people Ellery had a need to backstab or mess with. Company wasn't Ellery's for-tae, however tonight she didn't feel like being alone. She also didn't feel like going to her club, or any other club for that matter. Being the owner of a club, she went to others, scoping out competition and laughing at how poorly some were ran, when the owners thought they were the best around. The sun had set just a few hours back and the blonde beauty was sure of what she wanted to do. Time was never wasted deciding, it mostly came to her. Because of the fact that she didn't want to be alone, Ana would be her escape. Slight amusement came to her briefly, knowing regular spots that her friend would go every once and awhile. Like her, the girl needed her alone time. That is, alone as in thinking no one else around you knows who you are. However, being friends with Ellery, the blonde had had the brunette followed a few times to make sure she wasn't up to any funny business that could cause her harm. She was quite careful to say the least. Her people told her that she went for strolls, visited particular places and tonight, she happened to guess where that location would be. One of the downsides to being a vampire was that, during the day, the sun was dangerously harmful, even if you were a noble. Anastasia, unlike herself, was interested in the things that she was missing out on during the hours of light. Making her way to the fountain, it was a lucky guess out of the few places the brunette could be.
Appearing a few minutes before the coin was thrown into the fountain, Ellery stood and observed, learning against a building, hiding in the shadows. When Anastasia's eyes went to the sky, Ellery's followed. What was so amazing about the stars? It wasn't something the blonde could comprehend. They shined bright, yes, but so did the material of the dress she had chosen to wear last Saturday. Rolling her eyes, Ellery placed on foot in front of the other and made her way over to where her friend was. Eye contact would become instant if Anastasia was paying attention, but if not she would merely be standing directly in front of her. "Seriously? If you were aiming for the fountain you need less alone time. The dreaded human over there stumbling her way over to Mr. not-so-hot needs to knocked over the head more." the words she spoke were almost through her teeth. If there was one thing on the Earth that she hated more than anything, it would be humans. Although their blood was the reason as to why she lived, there was something about them that was almost.. frightening. A selected few were allowed to come near her without her invitation or initiation for conversation, besides that a fuse would break inside her mind if it were to occur- which, of course, it had and unexpectedly, the result wasn't too pretty. Ashamed was the last thing that Ellery was when it came to her own tendencies. The extent to how 'afraid' she was of humans was kept to herself though. Pointing it out as something she was ashamed of would automatically be denied if one were to pay close enough attention to her actions to notice that she was more uptight than usual in those certain situations. Tuning her attention back to Anastasia, she didn't care how the filthy human's night continued. The guy could be a complete asshole and she would have it coming for her thinking it was attractive to throw her faking arse behind at him. Ellery didn't always have clean methods herself, but she kept it classy. At least in her books they were, and that was all that mattered. To have to fake drunk to get a guy? Pathetic. At least learn how to act better. Shaking her head, she flipped her hair behind her shoulder and took a spot on the fountain before an idea came to her. "Want to go for a swim?" she asked, fully aware that security guards came for their rounds every so often. Anything sacred about the place had no affect on her. Honestly, all she was looking for was fun at this point.

Anastasia had sensed the presence of others around her, mostly trying to tune them out to enjoy her few moments of solitude before returning to her busy life of a noble and business owner. Although, there was someone nearby that kept her attention. She didn’t need to see them to sense that they were there against the wall. A smile came to her lips but didn’t take her eyes from the stars above. She let Ellery come to her as the sound of her footsteps brought her closer and closer. They stopped, Anastasia able to tell that Ellery was only a few feet in front of her.
Her eyes moved from the stars to see the scene that Ellery had described, rolling her eyes in annoyance. Like Ellery, Anastasia kept a certain class when attaining what she wanted. She didn’t need to fake being drunk or incoherent to get the attention of someone. She walked with her head high and pride on her shoulders. When she was in the mood to play a seductive smile usually play across her features, meeting the eyes of every potential candidate as she glided by. Whispered words of lust and temptation would echo from her lips. Everything Anastasia was something that one might consider a predator to be. She was the complete opposite of the girl not too far away. “Unless they have certain business with you Ellery, why bother to give them you attention at all? It’s not like they’re working for you or taking time out of there life to give you sustenance.”
She now looked to the blond, smile across her features as Ellery took a seat behind her. At Ellery’s question she looked back to examine the fountain. Of course the guards would be back around soon, but that was the least of her worries. “As lovely as a swim sounds, I’m not about to do so in the Trevi Fountain. I don’t want memories of coming here and thinking about what I did so such a place. Although I know that you could careless about the value of this place.” Anastasia knew all to well what Ellery thought of historical locations like this, but it didn’t bother her. The noble was entitled to think whatever she wanted. Anastasia wasn’t about to say otherwise.
“However,” she spoke again, “If you’re so intent on taking a swim I know of a little place nearby that has a wonderful hot tub. I would rather that than the cold water of the fountain. Besides, who knows who or what else has been in this water.” |
