AUGUSTINE  HEY THERE, THEY CALL ME AUGGIE AND I'M CURRENTLY NINETEEN YEARS OLD. I'M PART OF THE HUMANS AND I'M A FAMILIAR. ------------------------------------------------- not everyone's reality is the same. what is normal and what is strange can vary from person to person, and the defintion of those very words are as fluid as time, constantly changing while remaining undetected. and when your reality is shattered, well, there isn't much your left with. a young girl by the name of amelia augustine could attest to this, that is if she ever chose to speak on the subject at all. her transferance of reality was not as subtle as one would hope, and this petite girl nearly lost her balance when the earth shifted under her feet. she was born into a normal family with a normal life and a normal outlook on just about everything. the only thing strange about this rather small girl was her nickname, it's basis leaning away from her first name and focusing on her last. people called her auggie, and that was just fine with her. she had a mother and a father who loved each other just as much as they did when they first started dating, and she grew up in a middle class household- comfortable but not quite spoiled. and this was auggie's reality- the cookie cutter lifestyle of a suburban family. she knew nothing else but green oak trees and sidewalks made for biking and pedestrian walking. she knew her friends, her old high school and nights on the town, dressing up for no one in particular and setting out to enjoy herself. it was when she was sixteen that her entire reality shifted, plate tectonics playing a role in knocking her over, sending her falling into a labrynth of confusion that she was unlikely to recover from all too soon. her mother was killed by a creature she hadn't known existed, and her family suffered dearly for their ignorance. her father nearly lost himself, succumbing to drowning his thoughts in bottles of bubbles liquor. auggie herself was stronger than that, despite her fragile appearance. she had seen it happen, and she knew just what had attacked her mother that night. she also knew just what had spared her- eyes scrutinizing her before it turned away. it was after this that her father took her and moved her into the city, a change of scenery allowing them both time to heal. there they stayed until this current day, auggie nineteen years in age and her father having yet to recover from his stupor of fizzled drinks. even still, auggie finished high school in the city without complaint. you see, she had a rather positive outlook despite the recent turn of events. she had stumbled but she had not fallen. all was to be well soon enough with amelia augustine. with her graduation of high school came the graduation of her last bit of innocence. she became engrossed in the underground, fascinated by the very creatures that had nearly destroyed her family. she was too small and too fragile to take on the role of a donator, but she was quick to claim the job of a familiar. it was then that she met sebastian, and proceeded to date him seriously for a short period of time before their break up. still, she keeps in contact with him in a constant effort to outdo him, prove him wrong, and all that comes in between. her prankster sort of nature and witty tongue comes in handy during these miniature squabbles- not that they are always necessary. |
