This did nothing to waver his confidence in entering the place though and he hardly cast a sideways glance at any fanged patrons who were headed in the same direction. It could be easy to see what he truly was if you were looking. However, Sebastian had years of experience handling this type of crowd and even when his skin was flushed with color he could play the part of a cool, moody vampire. He simply had to make sure that he did not toss around any wide grins to blow his cover or let anyone touch him. His skin was hardly ever as chilled as the walking dead, after all. All that he had to do, he knew, was to keep his calm and his head held up. If he cowered at ever fang faced beast then he would be quite easy to pin point and what vampire, he mused, would not like to have him for dinner? He was healthy (for the most part) and clearly outnumbered. Sebastian would be an easy target indeed if he made himself one.
There was no serious reason for him to have come here. It had been but a silly challenge that he had convinced a female vampire that he could accomplish. A challenge that he could accomplish with ease, he had assured her. So what kind of person would he be not to feed his ego to prove her wrong? Sebastian was never one to turn down a challenge, no matter what the circumstances may have been. He never went headlong into danger without thinking, always sure that he was at least several steps ahead of anyone or anything he was to encounter. Perhaps he was overconfident. But perhaps his confidence was not misplaced.
The night was still young and the nighttime creatures were still stirring from their own homes and wherever the hell they had gone to hide from the sun’s rays. This made it so Sebastian had very little encounters with any of the blood sucking species. He strolled through the streets of New York sure that all of the hustle and bustle around him was still mostly human (boy, didn’t these vampires have so much to pick from!). But then the Midnight Rose was upon him and the crowd seemed suddenly thin. Humans were not allowed here so they hardly knew it existed unless they knew of vampires. And if they knew of vampires why would they ever want to come to a place like this?
There was absolutely no hesitation in Sebastian’s steps. He came right up to the door, getting a curious look from the obviously not so human man standing at the entrance. It was then that he feigned uncertainty. He let his figure sink and his dark eyes seemed to stir with discomfort. Playing the victim could sometimes work in this case and he had already conjured a plan to get himself inside without little questioning –or need to bring about alarm. Sebastian swallowed hard at the false lump in his throat when the male standing before him showed no sign of recognition. Before any words could be exchanged the familiar stuck his arm out before him and pulled up the sleeve of his coat and shirt until it went up beyond his elbow. He then flipped his arm to show the crook of his elbow where a bandage was pulled over and the obvious brown of dried blood showed through.
“Still rather new,” he murmured his voice so low that he hardly recognized it. This made the vampire smile wide and he pushed him through the door. As soon as he was inside, Sebastian tugged his sleeve back down over his arm. He grinned to himself then, for once grateful that his doctors had requested drawing blood. Every now and then having some sort of medical condition could come in handy!
Despite being tossed into a place filled with vampires and some pathetic looking wretches called donors, Sebastian felt perfectly alright. He no longer worried about the vampires since he had already gotten past the one he had needed to impress. He strolled through the crowd without being impressed by the strange sights of creatures indulging on the blood of others like him. Being a familiar got you used to the sort of things.
When Sebastian finally found a place to sit for his liking, he quickly situated himself in the booth. He sat back ignoring that he looked a bit out of place and rested his chin easily on top of his knuckles. The dark brown eyes glided over the scene before him, looking almost black in the shady atmosphere. He was looking for the owner of the Midnight Rose, a female who really was not very hard to miss for she had some fiery red hair. Whether he would find her or not, he did not know. But he had still won the challenge and that brought a smile to the human’s features. |

The simple trip away from Italy had been for business. It seemed to be the only reason that Anastasia ever travelled. Her business life seemed to come before her personal life and honestly, she was growing tired of it. She wanted to go somewhere besides the usual places. Maybe Spain, or Japan. A little culture change was good from time to time. For now though, her usually stops would have to do. New York was full of wonderful places for Anastasia to escape, but only so many that would allow her to be the predator she truly was.
Midnight Rose was a place of business and pleasure to the vampire. She was thankful she hadn’t done business here otherwise she would be avoiding it. Anastasia was desperate to get back home, but she wasn’t about to put her familiars and donors through a difficult schedule of flying. Too much jet lag wasn’t good for her little workers. Rather, she would give them the night off before they took to flight the following evening. The club was packed with vampires, many taking a drink from their donors or the drinks in their hands. She gave her donors the night off, wanting to mingle without blood nearby. Instead she opted for a martini, taking small sips every so often.
However the crowd she was with were starting to bore her. She managed to separate herself from the group, saying that she would return in a moment. Her eyes scanned the numerous people in the club, looking for a young vampire that might keep her interest beyond the night. A seductive smile played across her features, swirling the martini in her hand. Her dark eyes landed on a shadowy figure in a booth towards the back who seemed to be observing the club. Yet as her eyes focused on the darkness she was able to make out the figure. Her favorite familiar had managed to slip inside a club full of vampires. Only Sebastian would be able to pull of such a feat. Well, if anything he was going to be more interesting than any vampire here.
Swiftly she slid in the booth, almost as if she appeared from thin air next to him. A smile was still on her lips as she looked over Sebastian. “Well, well, what have we here?” she teased him, taking a sip of her drink before setting it on the table. There was a smug air about him tonight, his posture and smirk dead give aways. Anastasia cozied up next to him, the warmth of a living human something she would take for granted. “I must know Sebastian, just how did you manage to get in here?”
The smell of blood drifted across her nose. After being with her familiar for some time she had come to know their scents. Her eyes turned serious, the smile fading from her face as she examined Sebastian for injuries and wounds. “Where is it?” she asked, eyes staying on him, “And don’t try to hide it. I’ll search you myself if I have to.” |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] ALL OF THESE DEMONS, THEY KEEP ME UP ALL NIGHT The Words: 639 The Outfit: smooch The Notes blaaah The deceitfully delicate looking redhead seemed absent from her club on this night. Either that or Sebastian simply was not in a spot where he could be able to view the light skinned vampire. Whatever the case was Sebastian’s almost ebon eyes never ceased in their search for her. Even if she decided that she wasn’t going to amuse him with her presence tonight he decided that he would not dwell on it. Sebastian could gloat in his feelings of completion all on his own if he had to! And surely someone would mention the out of place human to the club’s owner at some point. After all, he didn’t exactly see a whole lot of other humans playing such a relaxed and free role as he. Truly, if Sebastian could say so himself, he was one of a kind in a place like this unless there happened to be a sneaky blonde familiar running around.
He was shaken from his thoughts when his eyes caught the sight of a very familiar woman. She did not sport locks of flaming hair but instead had some lustrous brown locks bouncing around her shoulders. He watched her as she came over toward him out of the corner of his eye, almost pretending like he didn’t even see her coming. Ana was not hard to miss for Sebastian simply because of how accustomed he was to seeing her all of the time. It wasn’t a bad thing though as he very able to enjoy the company of Ana.
As per usual the vampire woman looked stunning. Her dark dress fitted her form to perfection and she almost seemed to float over. He only fully turned to face her when she had slid into the booth at his side and spoke, feigning surprise when he heard her voice. While she fitted herself in next to him, Sebastian cleared his throat (still pretending to be slightly off guard) so that he could explain himself to the vampire. “I can be quite persuasive when I need to!” he explained with an innocent grin. He then waved his hand, as if unimpressed by his surroundings. “And those idiots outside could have a wolf get passed them. Hardly any effort at all! Perhaps you should let the owner know, give her some tips on how to get things done.” Not to mention riling up Nympha Vesper would be some good fun to hear about later.
Sebastian threw both hands up innocently when he received an incredulous stare from his boss. All he could do was simply grin at her and what seemed to be the protectiveness in her coming out rather than possessiveness. Their relationship was not so usual. Sebastian did not see Ana as annoying or bossy and he was certain that Ana was well aware of his free will and was more than happy than to allow it. It always managed to amuse him, these moments like this. They almost made him forget that the female was a vampire at all! Well, minus the whole part about managing to sniff out blood for miles.
“I assure you it is nothing to be concerned with,” Sebastian spoke with a chuckle. The familiar then proceeded to roll up his sleeves again a lay his arm out on the table to make the bandaging visible. He flexed his arm a bit, trying to find a good enough angle in the club as well as to show that there were no signs of bite marks or cuts. “Had to get my blood drawn,” he told her matter-of-factly. Then he shrugged. “It’s a human thing. Every now and then we like to donate our blood to other humans.” He grinned, never missing a beat in the lie and hardly trying to cover that he was poking fun at her intelligence. |
