ABOUT VAMPIRES
now this information is for you to know how the vampires here on welcome to the night work. please be sure to abide by the guidelines. it is the staff personal opinion and choice to have what vampires can do and can't do.
the vampire origins are mostly unknown, although the original family says is starts with a magic spell. werewolves were known to carry the curse that has run in their bloodlines for centuries, and the original family lost a member to a wolf attack. a spell was placed upon them to take revenge, turning them into vampires. although their strength and speed were increased, the price they had to pay was staying out of the sun and feeding on human blood. since then they have been creating vampires to increase the population.
now, a vampire is created two ways. the most common way is for a vampire to force a human to drink their blood and then kill them. the vampire blood will bring the human back to life. the new vampire will then be in transition and must feed on blood to complete the transformation. without the blood they will die. the second way is a rare case but does happen. vampires can have children. they are noble vampires, pure blood. it is a rare case that happens. there is only a one in six chance of two vampires creating a child.
vampires need human blood. not animal blood. with the large availability of donors in cities all over the world, many don't have the need to hunt for humans for blood anymore. they can eat normal human food, but it gives them no sustenance like blood can. it's mostly to blend in with humans and stay hidden from hunters.
vampires are not allowed in the sun. if a vampire should walk in the sunlight their skin will burn until they burst into flames and turn to ash. garlic, silver, crosses and holy water do not affect a vampire. fire will though. the only ways to kill a vampire are a stake to the heart, whether wood or silver, or lighting them on fire. the original vampires however cannot be killed with a stake. a special dagger is required to kill then with the ashes of the elder tree used to create them. or a werewolf bite. they are fatal to vampires.
contrary to belief, vampires do not need an invitation to get inside homes. they can cross water and do not require a coffin to sleep in. also, they cannot shift into animals (ie bat). however, vampires do have heightened senses of hearing, smell, and sight. they also have super speed and increased strength. when they feed properly they have regenerative healing.
a special power vampires have is the ability to compel. a vampire can compel a human to do what they want. although it is rarely used, some use the power against humans who are giving them a hard time. they only way to resist compulsion is to have a very strong will. only original vampires can compel other vampires. it's like hypnosis for a human and no matter what they must do what the vampire says.
